The Disappointed EP

The Disillusionment of the Expectation of Others

Written by Griffin Driskell

So you be the mom, and I'll be the dad,
And together we'll grow us three feet of a lad.
And he'll never eat meat, eat cheese, or drink milk.
He'll be a vegan from birth and eat organic.
Never a thing GMO'd!
No! Everything he'll eat will be homegrown.
But he drank like a fish and always got stoned.
He'll live a life of vices and virtues alike!
Moderation is good and you know that it's right.
But he took that shit and threw it out of the door,
And grabbed him a beer, a cigar and a whore.
Well he'll party and laugh and live life right!
But he sleep all day and he drank all night.
And he lived everyday till the day that he died,
And nobody missed him, and they all knew why.
Cause he drank all their mead
And screwed all their wives.
They'd been plotting kill him everyday of their lives.

But one of the wenches got sewn from his seed.
She grew a man drinking but not o' greed.
Generous gentleman handed out cash,
But often at the cost of a grab at her ass.
And that copping a feel landed him straight in jail
Where he earned his bunk sorting the mail.
But the jailor remembered his old man Dan,
And extended a warm welcoming hand.
And squeezed so tight he broke his fingers and wrist,
Avenging his wife that old Dan kissed.
Now in the brink with a broken limb,
Just dreaming of a beer, Scotch or a gin.
Smelled like fire so he swigged so mean
Not realizing the fire was gasoline.
He died there in seconds down in the mail room
Surrounded by letters he laid in his tomb.
Five weeks before someone noticed the smell.
Jail reeks of Heaven an aroma like Hell.

Speaking of Hell draws an end to the tale
Where ol Dan found a man surrounded by mail.
See Hell is a place where you live out your fate
Doing the thing that in life that caused you hate.
For mailer it would be sorting the mail;
The jailor there too would be patrolling the jail.
But old Dan never worked a day in his life.
He spent his days chasing liquor with some mans wife.
So the devil gave him another task,
And he handed him his wallet, ID, and a flask.
Sent him to Earth to buy him some booze,
For the devil said liquor and Dan near flew.
There in the store Dan questioned if
If he didn't return would the devil be miffed?
So he gave it a chance and flipped hell the bird,
And he guzzeld down the wine that he preferred.
He ducked out the door humming a song.
And he'll be walking forever doing the devil wrong.

An Okay Song

Written by Griffin Driskell

Sitting at the computer,
And I don't know what to do.
I click on Steam,
But I click Chrome, too.

And it's okay.
Yeah, it's okay.

Will I watch Netflix,
Or will I play a game?
Doesn't matter much.
It's really one in the same.

It'll be okay.
Yeah, it'll be okay.

Decide on a show,
Then get settled in.
Wheel starts to turn
And the wifi signal dims.

Hope it's okay.
I hope it's okay.

Page never loads.
I have to go outside.
I really hate the Sun,
And I think I'd rather die.

It's not okay.
It's not okay.

Cruising down the street,
And I'm talking to my mom.
Things'll be smooth;
I won't be talking long.

And it's okay.
Yeah, it's okay.

Still cruising down the street
When a cop pulls behind.
Her lights are still off,
So I'm still doing fine.

It'll be okay.
Yeah, it'll be okay.

Lights turn blue
As the sirens start to ring.
She's pulling me over.
I didn't do anything.

Hope it's okay.
I hope it's okay.

"Step out the car.
Did you not see the sign?
Talking on the phone,
And you're obviously high."

It's not okay.
It's not okay.

The cop misjudged,
So I'm in the drunktank.
Luckily it's empty,
So I don't get shanked.

And it's okay.
Yeah, it's okay.

Lawyer shows up
For our first official date.
He doesn't have tie,
And he's running kind of late.

It'll be okay.
Yeah, it'll be okay.

The judge starts the trial,
But it doesn't last long.
He smacks down the gavel,
And he ends my song.

It's not okay.
It's never been okay.

Dead Friends

Written by Griffin Driskell

You tossed more than a friend.
You killed a life.
You picked up the knife,
And severed the ties.
Don't know what I did
To make you mad.
But I realize now,
And its just awful sad.
You just can't forgive.
You don't know how.
That much I get,
And I accept it now.
But I've got something to say.
You don't wanna hear.
I forgive you friend.
-

Met you in G-A.
Watched a film on gays.
Joined the UUA,
And didn't have to pray.
Killed the last boss
With minutes to go.
Had a plane to board
In the last row.
Road the T to see
The ancestry,
The forefathers before
An hour of coffee.
"Sick and Sad" to see
This friendship die,
So I'll repose the question
And just ask why?

We got the jump on Dave,
Used Wes's save.
I wasn't brave,
And Del Taco's fave.
Drinking games with grapes,
Skanking great.
Cleaning feathered capes
All over the state.
Two years together,
Now a life apart.
An explanation unheard.
I'm left in the dark.
Who killed the light?
My thought's unseen.
Unfollowed the web,
And kicked off the team.

(Team Get Psyched)

Ignored again,
Thought you were a friend.
Thinking back on then
And wondering when:
You got so pissed,
The signs I missed,
Didn't get the gyst,
Just symbolic fist.
Well I get it now.
I know what you said.
Ed's in the shed.
And Shaun is dead.
I hear you loud

(I hear you loud and clear!)
